Description

Honey garlic steak bites are tender bits of beef cooked in a sweet and savory honey soy glaze, topped with sesame seeds and green onion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef, cut into bite-sized pieces (stew beef recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (or olive/vegetable oil)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup cold filtered water
  • Optional: green onion, scallions, parsley, sesame seeds
  • 12 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with equal water (for thickening, if desired)

Instructions

  1. Slow Cooker: Brown beef in oil over medium heat, then transfer to slow cooker. Whisk garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, and oregano, then pour over meat. Add water and stir. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours. Thicken sauce with cornstarch slurry if needed, then garnish.
  2. Instant Pot: Sauté beef in oil to brown, then add sauce mix and water. Seal and cook on high for 20 minutes. Natural release for 10 minutes, then thicken sauce if desired and garnish.
  3. Dutch Oven: Brown beef in oil, then add sauce mix and water. Cover and bake at 250°F for 2-3 hours. Thicken sauce if desired and garnish.

Notes

  • Do not cook on high in the slow cooker to prevent burning the honey.
  • Adjust cornstarch slurry for desired sauce thickness.
  • Add more water if sauce reduces too quickly.
